Europe is the second smallest continent in the world. It is the only continent located enterely in the Northern Hemisphere.

South: Mediterranean Sea.

The relief in Europe: mountains and plains.

Europe has many mountain ranges.

Mountains in the northern Europe: They are generally bellow 2,500 metres and have rounded peaks. For example, Scandinavian Mountains and Ural Mountains.

Mountains in southern Europe: They are the highest mountain ranges in our continent. Pyrenees, the Alps, the  Carpathians, the Balkans and the Caucasus Mountains.

The highest peak is Mont Elbrus (Caucasus Mountains) at 5,642 metres.

But there are 2 plains which extend across the central and the eastern parts of Europe. The main rivers flow through this extensive area.
